Brian Gondek was sworn in as a Haverford Township Commissioner for the 1st Ward on May 9, 2022. He is a lifelong resident of the township having graduated from Haverford Senior High School in 1994. For the last 20 years, he has lived on Shellbourne Road with his wife, Jessica, and their four daughters. Brian is a graduate of Villanova University and Widener University School of Law. He has been a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania and New Jersey since 2005. Since 2014, he has been involved with the Brick & Brew, a restaurant company founded in Haverford Township.
Brian looks forward to working with his fellow Commissioners and the assorted civic and business groups in the Township to ensure that Haverford Township continues to be the most desirable place to live, work and raise a family that it can be. He believes strongly in being responsive to his constituents and ensuring that all of the Townships residents are aware of what is going on in the Township and are able to have their voices heard. He also respects the balance between providing exemplary public services to the residents of the Township while keeping taxes under control.

As the commissioner of the second ward, Sherry Forste-Grupp will listen and respond honestly to each individual’s concerns. She will act with transparency and accountability, support our Haverford Township Free Library and other organizations which enrich our community, and promote initiatives to make our Township a welcoming and safe place to everyone.
Sherry and her husband Stephan Grupp moved to the Llanerch section of Haverford Township in 1996 from Boston. Steve Grupp is a pediatric oncologist at CHOP doing bench to bedside research on CAR-T cancer therapies. Their three children attended Haverford Public Schools and are pursuing varied careers in economics, city planning, and social work.
Sherry grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Cincinnati. She earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Harvard University in 1996. She taught at Villanova University and Episcopal Academy before joining The Baldwin School in 2013 where she currently teaches high school English. Sherry has published several papers on medieval English literature and given numerous academic talks. She served on the Board of Trustees for the Haverford Township Free Library from 2002-2009 and the Oakmont Farmers Market Board from 2017-2021.

Third Ward Commissioner Kevin McCloskey has served on the Board since election in 2015. While on the Board, he helped establish the Community Welfare committee to address issues surrounding the heroin epidemic at the Township level and to work with local organizations. He currently serves as the chair of the following committees: Community Welfare, Library Board, and Historical Commission. During his time on the Board, Kevin has also been active supporting the Economic Development committee and the Haverford Partnership for Economic Development (HPED) to improve our business districts via business attraction and aesthetic improvement while maintaining our neighborhoods’ character.
Kevin is a former Assistant District Attorney in Montgomery County. He currently lives in the Merwood Park section of Havertown with his wife (Jennette) and three children (Madeleine, Emily and Ryan).

Judy Trombetta was sworn in as a Haverford Township Commissioner representing the 4th Ward in January 2022. She and her husband, Brandon, son, Ari, and black lab, Low Rider, live on Darby Creek Road in Havertown. As a working mom, Judy’s highest priority is to make sure that Haverford Township is responsive to the needs of our diverse residents and remains a great place to live for generations to come.
A native of Chester County, Judy earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Temple University and a master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in Community Organizing from the University of Pittsburgh.
Judy has dedicated her career to helping the community through public service. She served for over a decade in leadership positions in the legislative offices of two Pittsburgh City Council Members and, more recently, a Pennsylvania State Senator who represented parts of Montgomery and Delaware Counties, including Haverford Township. Judy has also worked and volunteered for numerous nonprofit and advocacy organizations focusing on issues around mental health, food access, criminal justice, public education, and neighborhood preservation.

Laura Cavender was re-elected 5th Ward Commissioner in a November 2023 for a four-year term. Her priorities as commissioner include 1) strengthening township sustainability efforts; 2) improving the Haverford Township Free Library, one of our most valuable resources; 3) enhancing our parks, open space, and recreation resources; and 4) ensuring that Haverford Township is an inclusive and equitable community for all.
In Haverford, Laura served as a member of the Human Relations Commission. Her professional experience includes work as a communications director, speechwriter, journalist, and consultant. She moved to Philadelphia in 2009 for a job at the University of Pennsylvania, and prior to that spent eight years at Georgetown University, where she also earned her master's degree. She began her communications career as a speechwriter at the American Red Cross in Washington. She grew up in a small town in southern Missouri and has a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.

Larry Holmes and his wife Priscilla raise their four children, Jack, Kevin, Annie and Ryan in Ardmore, where they have lived for more than ten years. Commissioner Holmes is a native of Northeastern Pennsylvania, a graduate of Georgetown University and Villanova University School of Law and is a Principal at Offit Kurman, a law firm based in Center City Philadelphia. He previously served in 2001 as bond counsel to the Township, and was first elected Commissioner to the Sixth Ward in 2005.
Commissioner Holmes has concentrated his efforts on professionalizing the delivery of Township services. He serves as the head of the Ice Rink, Bid, Library and Finance Committees, and takes an active role in advising the Board on municipal finance and personnel issues.

Conor Quinn was elected 7th Ward Commissioner in November, 2019. He is a lifelong resident of Haverford Township, growing up in the Llanarch section of The township. He attended Annunciation BVM School, Monsignor Bonner High School, and Saint Leo University in Tampa, FL where he studied political science.
Conor is co-owner of Kettle Restaurant on Brookline Blvd. He has attended Board of Commissioners meetings regularly since high school. He has been active in the community for years; serving as a board member for the Friends of the Grange, board member of the Billy Lake ALS Research Foundation, the Msgr. Bonner Hall of Fame Committee, Philadelphia Chapter of the National Stuttering Association, graduate of the DEA Citizens Academy, and has been involved in his local church, Annunciation BVM.
Conor looks forward to addressing the opioid crisis (which has impacted his family) by working with local community groups and the police department to best fight this epidemic. As a business owner in the community, he wants to work towards promoting our business districts, the more businesses that make Haverford Township their home, the better it is for our residents' tax obligations.

Eighth Ward Commissioner Gerard Hart has served on the Board since his election in 2017. He is originally from the Bronx, NY, but grew up in Middletown, NJ. He is a graduate of Boston College (BA English 1975) and later Rutgers Medical School (MD 1983). He subsequently completed a residency program in Family Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Gerry and his wife, Anne, moved to Havertown in 1990 from Watkinsville, Georgia after he completed his National Health Service Corps obligation and Anne completed her post-doctoral studies at the University of Georgia. They moved to Havertown with their two young children, Emily and Michael. Over the years the family has grown to 6 children including sons Jesse and Isaiah as well daughters India and Imani. India is a 2020 Haverford High School graduate and daughter Imani is a sophomore at Haverford High School. Dr.Hart, who is board certified in both Family Medicine and Geriatrics, practiced in mostly underserved areas in the Philadelphia region during the past 25 years. He left full-time practice in 2016, but continues to practice on a part-time basis.
Gerry currently serves as the chair of the Cable Advisory, Recreation, and Senior Citizen's Boards as well as serving on the Commission currently working on an update of Haverford's Comprehensive Plan. I am also an active member of the Fire-EMS, Bid, Finance, Grange, Insurance/Pension, Professional Service/Engineering and Health Boards. Gerry is committed to maintaining our open space, improving our biking and walking trails, and ensuring the continued strength of our recreation department. He also believes it is important for Haverford Township to continue to see growth in its business community in part to ensure that we broaden our tax base to lessen the burden on homeowners. He presented the resolution to the Board of Commissioners in 2018 that passed unanimously committing the township to the use of 100% renewable electricity by 2035 and 100% renewable heat and transportation by 2050.

Michael McCollum was elected Commissioner of the 9th Ward in November of 2023 and took office in January of 2024 . He is a lifelong resident of the 9th ward, growing up in the Bon – Air Section of Haverford Township. Mike graduated from St. Dorothy’s and Cardinal O’Hara Schools. Mike has been a volunteer coach at St.Dorothy’s as well as Hilltop Baseball and Softball League since 1992. In addition Mike currently serves on the Hilltop Baseball, Softball and Challenger Leagues Board of Directors. Mike worked for the USPS for 24.5 years in Pilgrim Gardens as a Letter Carrier and now is in Insurance sales with the McCollum Insurance Agency a firm owned by his brother with locations in Newtown Square and Manayunk. Mike and his wife (Bernadette ) now reside in the Pilgrim Gardens section of Haverford Township with their 4 children, (Michael, Maggie, Brinley and Maeve) and their dog Murphy.
